La Sala Project – SJC Library

See In The News for the latest La Sala Progress

The members of SJC Garden Club have worked to raise money to buy and plant beautiful vines and finally Crepe Myrtle Trees in this special area.  It was designated by Michael Graves, the architect of the library, to be a place of shade and an accent to his modern structure.  The pattern of decomposed granite and gravel bring a finishing touch to the design.

August 2019 – La Sala Grove is nearing completion

Nearly five years ago Valerie Drey had her vision for the area behind the Library and adjacent to the La Sala room approved by the City of San Juan Capistrano. This included installing and planting pots by the reflecting pool, as well as a plan for
additional improvements. This was the beginning of our La Sala beautification project.

Our future plan is to plant flowering plants in the two existing planters and around each of the trees. This will be our Fall project.
